Have you ever wanted
to use WPS or SAS on a server and not have to pay astronomical money for
a client/desktop copy of PC SAS with SAS/Connect or have a Terminal
Server installed? Have you ever had contractors and consultants come and
work onsite and don’t relish the idea of having to get copies of SAS for
them to use for a few months of work? Are you starting to migrate from
SAS to WPS and want to have the ability to run and test the exact same
programs in a controlled environment? If so, then MQBatch might be the
product for you.
MQBatch is a software
program that monitors a directory and its subdirectories waiting for the
creation of a WPS or SAS program file. When a user submits a program to
the MQBatch folders, MQBatch then executes the appropriate program and
writes out the list and log files back to the directory being
monitored.
Using UltraEdit, you
can submit WPS and SAS programs to the server without using a Terminal
Server or purchase expensive Client Licenses. MQBatch with UltraEdit
provides you with the ability to submit WPS and SAS programs and see the
results back in your editor.
MQBatch V1.0 is
Freeware. You can put it on as many WPS and SAS servers or desktops as
you like. Later this summer, we will introduce MQBatch Pro which has
numerous additional features.
MQBatch V1 limits you
to the following.

You can only run a
single instance of the program.

It does not start
automatically after a reboot.

You cannot run it
as a service.
-
You are limited to
monitoring a single directory (and/or all the subdirectories
beneath it)
MQBatch comes with
sample command files that you can modify for your particular
installation. If you choose to install the software and scripts in
default locations, no modifications to the CMD files are necessary.
MQBatch also comes with a JavaScript that you can use with UltraEdit to
submit the WPS or SAS program to the server. This script will need one
line to be modified (i.e. the users submit directory on the server) to
run.
Later this summer, we
will be introducing MQBatch PRO as a licensed commercial product.
MQBatch Pro will include:
Run multiple instances
of the program to monitor multiple directories. You can have directories
for different user departments and even monitor FTP directories so users
working off-site can use UltraEdit and remotely submit and view their
WPS and SAS programs using FTP.

Automatic startup upon reboot.

Create performance counters
-
Execute programs with different
run-time priorities.
